Anna Wintour (Editor-in-Chief of U.S. Vogue) and Karl Lagerfeld

The first Monday in May is quite a special day in fashion. The extravagant event that takes place on that day is the MET Ball. The iconic gala was founded in 1948 by fashion publicist, Eleanor Lambert. It was created to raise money for the Costume Institute. Before it became what it is today, the Met consisted of a fancy dinner and tickets worth $50. The MET was once held in places like Central Park to the Waldorf Astoria before making its way to the Metropolitan Museum. This year's theme is Karl Lagerfeld: A Line of Beauty. It will honor Lagerfeld's legacy and his work from CHANEL, Fendi, and his own label. With there only being a couple weeks remaining before the big day, I've decided to choose my favorite Chanel looks from past MET balls. Enjoy!! 🖤 🤍

Supermodel Claudia Schiffer seen here wearing a lovely Chanel black dress at the 1995 MET. The theme that year was "Haute Couture."

Actress Diane Kruger wears an embellished strapless Chanel top and leggings with a chiffon sash to 2015 MET. The theme was "China: Through the Looking Glass." This look came off the runway from the Chanel Spring 2011 Couture show.

Actress Kristen Stewart wears a Chanel Fall '16 ready-to-wear look to 2016 gala, with the theme being "Manus x Machina: Fashion in an Age of Technology."

Actress and Model Lily-Rose Depp channels Barbie vibes while wearing a pink Chanel gown to 2017 MET. Theme: “Rei Kawakubo/Comme des Garçons: Art of the In-Between."

Actress Yara Shahidi photographed at 2018 MET wearing a Chanel tulle purple pastel dress and netted headpiece. Theme: "Heavenly Bodies: Fashion and the Catholic Imagination."

Lily-Rose Depp (Left) wears vintage dress from Chanel Spring/Summer 1992 show (Right) to 2019 MET

Theme: "Camp: Notes on Fashion."

Anna Wintour, Editor-in-Chief of U.S Vogue, wears a beautiful feathered gown to 2019 ball. The custom dress was the last Lagerfeld made for her. She is quoted saying, "Karl made (it) for me, and Virginie (present Chanel creative director) finished." Wintour and Lagerfeld were long-time friends and Karl would often design looks for her to wear to events.

P.S. if you didn't already know, Ms. Wintour is the one who oversees the guest list for the MET every year. She's been in charge of running it since 1995.

Hope you all have a beautiful day and are just as excited as I am for the upcoming MET!
